| Deepfakes are predicted to be a major part of future fashion advertising. Following a successful 2018 Zalando campaign featuring Cara Delevingne that used deepfake technology, the fashion industry began to take notice—especially as the algorithms for manipulation and synthesizing media “became more powerful.” While deepfakes typically have a bad reputation and have made it “harder to distinguish between real and fabricated media,” some of its supporters have emphasized its benefits, especially as in-person shoots continue to be limited.
