Not surprisingly, people are spending on comfort, not experiences, for the holidays.

Dec 15 2020

Not surprisingly, people are spending on comfort, not experiences, for the holidays. YPulse’s data on young consumers’ holiday shopping plans found a significant drop in the number who planned to gift experiences compared to 2019, and their spending is reflecting it. According to a Coresight Research report, books, video games, home goods, office supplies, and grooming products are among the products shoppers were least likely to cut spending on this season, while they spent less on dining out or going to the bars, and going on vacation. 1010data found that electronics and sporting goods were among the “top performing categories” in October growing 57% and 25%, while toys and limited apparel categories like slippers and sleepwear did well too.
