Disney just unveiled a huge slate of movies and shows they hope will “strengthen Disney+.” While some of Disney’s traditional businesses are struggling and streaming is becoming “cuttingly competitive,”the company has announced “a Death Star-size trove of coming content” and 100 new titles per year—including ten Star Wars and ten Marvel series over the next few years. According to the company, they expect to see 230 million to 260 million subscribers by 2024—and they plan to increase the price of the streaming service up $1 to $7.99. YPulse’s media consumption report found that 44% of 13-39-year-olds are already Disney+ subscribers. (Adweek, NYTimes) |
