The majority of consumers in the U.S. say they will still be uncomfortable going to movie theaters in six months. The news of Warner Bros. dropping next year’s movie titles on streaming simultaneously with theatrical release has shaken up the movie industry. But it might be exactly what’s needed: According to a Deloitte study, 71% of consumers say they would not be comfortable going to a theater within the next month—and just over half say they are unwilling to see a movie in-person in the next six months. YPulse’s recent entertainment report also found that only a quarter of young consumers are currently comfortable going to movie theaters, 16% say they will be comfortable in 1-6 months, and 44% say they won’t be comfortable for 6-12 months or until a vaccine is out.
