Post-election, Gen Z expects fashion brands to step up. Ahead of the election, many brands encouraged young consumers to vote—but Gen Z still wants brands to “step up” on the important issues that matter to them. DoSomething Strategic found that 69% of Gen Z are “more interested” in politics as a result of the election, while 52% are planning to stay engaged and encourage elected politicians to follow through on campaign promises. According to research from Vogue Business, young people want their favorite brands “to remain politically engaged and step up on social issues such as diversity, inclusivity, and climate change.” YPulse’s Not Waiting for the World to Change research also found that Gen Z has higher expectations about brands’ involvement in social causes.
