“Stress and safety concerns” are turning young shoppers away from fresh food.

“Stress and safety concerns” are turning young shoppers away from fresh food. According to a Deloitte study, even though sales for fresh fruit, vegetables, meat, and seafood are up during the pandemic, fewer visits to grocery stores due to “stress and safety concerns” is leading to more food waste and supply chain problems. YPulse’s exclusive COVID research found that 25% of 13-39-year-olds have been ordering groceries online more, which for many means fewer fresh products. The number of respondents who shopped for fresh food multiple times per week decreased from 30% to 15%, with grocery shoppers going into the store less than once a week.  (Adweek)
