Roblox wants to become a bigger space for virtual music events. First, it was Fortnite and Minecraft who were transforming their gaming apps into virtual music venues. Roblox joined the space by hosting their virtual concert with popstar Ava Max, which drew 1.156 million unique players. After its success, they have more “ambitious plans” to expand and make music an “integral” part of the platform like its competitors. With the first event in the books, one of their goals is to have an “easy way” to make something creative that didn’t take “months and months” to complete. According to Roblox, if they do more virtual concerts, they want to create a whole virtual experience with a virtual artist, virtual stage, virtual audience, and more “backstage elements” where fans can interact with the artists.
