Most young shoppers will be doing their holiday shopping online. YPulse’s exclusive holiday retail research (which we’ll be sharing in our upcoming Holiday Plans Unwrapped webinar) found that 53% of 13-39-year-olds are planning to do most or all of their shopping online this year. According to an Accenture survey, 75% of consumers will do at least some of their shopping online—up from 65% last year, while 43% plan to shop exclusively online. Even as retailers ramp up their curbside and contactless pickup options, 77% of respondents still reported wanting to make their purchases from home. However, 62% say that booking a time to shop in-person would likely inspire them to physically return to a shop. The study also found that 76% want retailers to close on Thanksgiving.
