More young people are forming “communes” and living together because of COVID. While COVID initially upended the trend of content creator collectives, the disruption didn’t last for too long. The pandemic has actually fueled more young people and emerging influencers on TikTok moving together in “influencer houses,” or this generation’s “communes.” Historically, the popularity of “communal living in the U.S.” has grown during periods of “social or economic tumult. Whether TikTokers are moving in together to expand their individual platforms while being in a community with like-minded people, or for the practical reasons of saving money and during the economic recession, it’s lending to a new form of “communitarianism.” (VICE)
