Music videos are the new fashion shows.

Sep 03 2020

Music videos are the new fashion shows. While they might not be played 24/7 on TV anymore, music videos have remained relevant to young consumers thanks to online views. But now they’re being used for more than just a way for artists to promote their songs, they’re fashion showcases for “celebrity-driven fashion trends and aspirational designs.” With red carpets and fashion shows on hold and fashion magazines shifting coverage, music videos serve as a fantastical source of the clothing trends that might’ve been in 2020—if everyone wasn’t at home lounging around in sweatpants. BTS, Miley Cyrus, Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion, and Taylor Swift are just some of the artists with recent music videos highlighting the trends of pastel colors, animal print, “disco fever,” statement dressing, and of course, cottagecore.
