Virtual events are coming soon to Spotify. Virtual events have been hot during the pandemic and many musicians have been leaning into the trend to reach fans while concerts are cancelled. Spotify already had a feature that let listeners know when a live show was happening nearby, and now the streaming giant is developing a tool that instead alerts fans to an artist’s upcoming ticketed “virtual events.” Because the company already works with ticketing partners like Ticketmaster, Songkick, Resident Advisor, Eventbrite, AXS, and eplus in Japan, it shouldn’t be difficult to “slightly tweak” their existing partner agreements to gain access to their virtual event listings.
