Youth voting campaigns have a distinctly different tone this year.

Aug 26 2020

Youth voting campaigns have a distinctly different tone this year. March for Our Lives, the youth-led gun violence prevention organization created post-Parkland shooting, reports that there is a “hopeless” feeling among young voters. Though they have been unable to hold the rallies and marches they would have before COVID, they’re launching a part-digital tour to encourage voter registration and raise awareness, and hope “the desire to see things improve could override the sense of despair” and get young voters to the polls. Meanwhile, Levi’s voting PSA aimed at Gen Z  is taking a “somber” tone and asking them to “vote anyway” in the face of voter suppression. This will be the first election for many Gen Z voters, and YPulse found that their political views have been shifting this year. (NBC News, MediaPost)
