| This app hired the Gen Z teens who had organized to take it down. Life360 is an app that allows parents to track their kids’ locations and activity—and it’s been the bane of teen TikTokers for some time. The hashtag #banlife360 has over 75 million views on the app, and it’s full of tips on evading the app as well as complaints about it. When that hashtag was used to encourage users to post bad ratings of Life360, negative reviews of the app skyrocketed from 19% to 59% on Google Play in just a month. Life360 CEO Chris Hulls had an unexpected reaction: he reached out to the teen who had started the effort directly and has hired him, and his friends, to “hone his TikTok persona.” Hulls has now spent around $20K hiring TikTokers, and is winning over his detractors while building new features to appease critics.
