Spotify unveiled an “AI-powered avatar” of The Weeknd to create a personalized listening experience for young fans. To continue celebrating his “song of the summer” after a successful virtual concert on TikTok, The Weeknd is being featured by Spotify as a part of their “personalized listening experience” to give fans virtual one-on-one time with the artist. On a microsite developed by the streaming giant, visitors are greeted by a The Weeknd avatar who will address them by name, and comment on their music listening habits based on their account data. The appearance and voice of the “digital clone” is pulled from real footage of the musician and audio recordings through “deep learning.” (Adweek, Billboard)
