This year, outdoor play is selling out. Sure, we told you about how virtual camps are trending right now, but in the midst of the warm weather, young consumers who are seeking outdoor getaways (or even staycations) are “panic buying” pools, tents, kayaks, bikes, and trampolines, which are selling out across retailers. While this is “good news” for the outdoor recreation industry, shortages have their consequences as well. Because a lot of outdoor gear is produced overseas, ordered a year in advance and sold seasonally, there’s a high chance that some sold out products won’t reappear until 2021. (NYTimes)
