More than half of Americans are Millennials or Gen Z. According to data released by the U.S. Census Bureau, more than half of the country’s total population is made up of young consumers. The data shows that as of July of last year, Millennials, Gen Z, and younger generations make up 166 million (or 50.7%) of the U.S. population compared to the 162 million of combined Gen X, Baby Boomers, and older generations. Gen Z and Millennials are more racially diverse than previous generations, with nearly half identifying as a “racial or ethnic minority” (which calls into question the use of the word “minority” going forward).
