Black creators and influencers are gaining more exposure on social media as brands acknowledge their past “inherent biases.”

Jun 23 2020

Black creators and influencers are gaining more exposure on social media as brands acknowledge their past “inherent biases.” The Black Lives Matter movement and protests have completely transformed the social media landscape. Popular networks like TikTok and Instagram have been boosting the profiles of Black content creators who feel like this is the first time they’re being “seen and heard.” Creators like Bria Jones and Kira West have reported seeing a spike in their engagement and follower count. Meanwhile, beauty brands like Milk Makeup, NYX Cosmetics, and others have promised to have “more diverse and inclusive social media channels.” (Yahoo! Life, Glossy)
