TikTok is starting an educational video series. We predicted that educational content could be part of the app’s future, and now their new #LearnOnTikTok program will give grants to 800 individuals and organizations to make “creative, informational, and useful learning material” on the app. Professional experts and public figures like Bill Nye, Neil deGrasse Tyson, Tyra Banks, and Lilly Singh are all working with the app to create the content, while organizations and publishers like Aquarium of the Pacific, Headspace, It Gets Better, Women’s Wear Daily (WWD), Self magazine and Upworthy are making instructional and how-to videos.
