Teen crisis counsellors are still on call during the pandemic. Through the ongoing global crisis, volunteers for teen helplines like YouthLine are still working to assist young adults in need. To protect their young volunteers, temperatures are taken before entering the office, they “mask up,” and are sanitizing desks and work spaces. According to YouthLine, they received nearly 2,200 messages and calls in March compared to the 1,400 the year before. Many callers want to talk about the virus, feeling “trapped,” and their struggles with difficult home situations they now have no escape from. (The New Yorker)
