Unemployment claims hit more than 3 million—and young workers are getting hit hard. According to the Labor Department, job claims surged to 3.28 million in the last week, shattering the Great Recession peak of 665,000 in March 2009 and the all-time mark of 695,000 in October 1982. Young service workers in particular are being heavily hit and are losing more hours than any other demographic—resulting in financial setbacks that could permanently impact them in the future.
