Mega-influencers are urging young followers to self-quarantine. As news reports continue to show that young people can mitigate the risk of spreading COVID-19 by social distancing, government officials called for mega-influencers to emphasize the seriousness of the virus to their young fanbase. Already, Kylie Jenner and Bella Hadid have been posting messages on Instagram urging their followers to stay home, while Italian influencer Chiara Ferragni constantly posts updates of herself in self-quarantine and has raised millions of dollars for hospitals in her country. YPulse’s celebrities and influencers survey found that 77% of 13-to-37-year-olds have tried or learned something from an online celebrity in the past. (Variety, Footwear News)
