Universities are offering influencer courses and starting prestigious social media clubs. YPulse found that 72% of 13-to-18-year-olds would like to be an online celebrity—and now colleges are creating resources for students who want to pursue it as a career path. While it isn’t an official major, USC offers an Influencer Relations class as well as a social media influencing club. According to the university, it is “the first of its kind” and looks at the industry from the public relations perspective. The club is prestigious and only accepts 10 members, with a vigorous application process to allow in only those who want to use “social media as a business platform, monetize, make a career out of it.” (NBC News)
