Young shoppers’ closets are filling up with used clothing. According to a Poshmark study, 16.5% of Gen Z closets are made up of secondhand items, while Millennials are close behind at 12.5%. While fast fashion brands are still popular, they’re starting to opt for more sustainable and affordable ways to find clothing and accessories, and retailers like Gap and Macy’s are partnering with resale companies like ThredUp. The study also highlights the significant differences between generation’s closets: While Boomers like value chains like Coach, Michael Kors, and Eileen Fisher, younger generations tend to choose brands like Adidas, Brandy Melville, Nike, Madewell, and Anthropologie.
