TikTok wants more adults users, but it’s just too popular with kids. It’s no secret that TikTok has been the social platform to watch, and though they need to appeal to adults for growth and survival, children under 13-years-old have flocked to the app. In fact, around 28% of users were under 18 as of early 2019. Now, the app is implementing more strict age restrictions, including AI tools that scan faces to estimate users’ age, and rejecting “juvenile” content. There are signs that older users are joining: Hashtags like #over30, #over40, and #MomsOfTikTok have trended. (WSJ)
