TikTok is proving that social apps are all dating apps in disguise. While young consumers are suffering from swipe fatigue, some are turning to non-dating social apps to find love. Young users are already using Twitter and Instagram to slide into each other’s DMs to flirt, hookup, or date, and now TikTok is turning into a matchmaker as well. YouTuber James Charles has announced that he is going to be the “TikTok Bachelor,” and videos using hashtags like #someonedateme, #datemeplz, and #reasonstodateme, have millions of views. Some are asking followers to like their videos if they would actually go on a date with them, turning accounts into “makeshift dating profiles.” (Mashable)
