Snapchat wants the new Bitmoji TV to be this generation’s “Saturday-morning cartoons.”In a sea full of streaming services, social apps are trying to create more original and engaging content for young viewers. Enter Snapchat’s series starring the Bitmoji avatars of users and their friends—with cameos from celebs—spoofing reality shows, infomercials, and soap operas. A new 4-minute episode will premiere every Saturday morning, and while some are calling it “weird” and “wacky,” the series will continue to build on Bitmoji’s past success (the app says more than 130 million users have watched their own Bitmoji Story) and could be a hit with Gen Z users who still rank Snapchat as one of their top social media apps.
