The Community app could mean competition for Twitter—and it’s already got celebrities on board. From Ashton Kutcher to Paul McCartney, and Kerry Washington, the new text-based management and communication service has drawn big Hollywood names who want a more authentic and direct way to communicate with followers, without the algorithms, advertising, and data collecting associated with current social platforms. YPulse found that 60% of 13-to-18-year-olds follow a celebrity on social media, but as the platform gains traction, young users could potentially start texting their favorite celebrities as a more private way to communicate than just commenting on their posts.
