TikTok may be fueling tons of trends, but their downloads are slowing down. The app, run by Chinese company ByteDance, has seen “astounding growth” since launching in 2017, adding 500 million users so far this year, and reporting 1.5 billion users total. But new data from SensorTower shows that it has hit a roadblock, with its first ever drop in user growth this quarter. Criticisms and ad pullpack from competitors like Facebook, and concerns about user data could be obstacles for the platform. (The Verge)
