The next generation could learn to read with a new Google app. Rivet uses voice recognition software to follow along with kids as they read over 2,000 free books. Kids can choose to have the book read to them, or—in a feature that sets the app apart—they can read the book themselves, and Rivet will jump in to offer aid if and when they struggle. The app is publicly-available, free-to-download, and keeps kids’ info private by processing their audio on the device only. (TechCrunch)
