Child labor laws haven't caught up to kidfluencers. YouTube’s youngest stars are top earners but aren’t protected by the same laws as traditional child celebrities. They’re too young to even own their YouTube or Instagram accounts, let alone keep any of the money they earn. To make matters worse, many child influencers’ parents claim that because they’re having fun, what the kids do isn't really work, and in extreme cases (like the now-shut-down Fantastic Adventures channel), children are being abused behind the scenes.
