REI is stepping up its used gear and rental options for sustainability-minded Millennials. The outdoor retailer is turning their seasonal “garage” sales of lightly-used products into a year-round in-store and offline offering. They’ve also doubled the number of stores that offer rentals of items like ski equipment and camping gear. REI reports that over one-third of Millennials would prefer to rent, rather than own a product, and that the majority of their one million new members last year were under 40 years old. (Forbes)
