Today’s college freshmen are turning to Instagram, not Facebook, to connect with future classmates. Student-created “Class of 2023” pages for colleges like Arizona State and Clemson University let teens send in selfies paired with short statements to meet their peers, form friend groups, and find roommates. (We found in our Friend Request report that 64% of teens think online interactions are just as important as offline ones.) The creator of @alabamaclassof2023 explains why Instagram is their platform of choice: “My generation, we never had Facebook, honestly.” (The Atlantic)
