Big Pharma is tapping social media influencers. From Allergan breast implants to Celgene psoriasis medication, influencers are being paid to promote medical devices and treatments to their followers, but regulations and ethics around the practice are murky at best. Not all influencers properly disclose that the post is an #ad, and even those that do could be accused of deceptive advertising—especially since some of them have never used the product or undergone the procedure they’re promoting.
