Spotify is stepping up their podcasts. The company just acquired two podcast startups, Gimlet Media and Anchor, and announced plans to spend $500 million more this year. Their CEO thinks that listening to podcasts will one day make up 20% of all usage on Spotify, as they race to create original content and catch up to the industry leader: Apple Podcasts. Young users are sure to tune in, because Ypulse data shows that 42% of 18-35-year-olds listen to podcasts. (Recode)
