Private colleges are cutting tuition prices to attract prospective students. St. John’s College joined over 20 U.S. colleges that have made similar changes in the past two years when they slashed their tuition from $52,734 to $35,000. The president of The National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities says that “The trend is beginning to pick up,” as more schools use lower tuition costs as “an important tool” to entice new students, who are increasingly wary of taking on debt.
