Netflix is turning Roald Dahl classics into animated originals. The streaming giant has signed an exclusive deal with The Roald Dahl Story Company that allows them to adapt nostalgic stories like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The BFG, and Matilda. Netflix reportedly shelled out at least $1 billion on the deal, which “could represent one of the biggest single investments ever in kids and family programming.” Production on the first title in their new “imaginative story universe” starts next year.
