Google created a fake pizza brand to find out what kinds of ads people really want to see. Stock footage was used to create 33 ads for the fictional franchise, Doctor Fork. The ads were then served across YouTube to amass over 20 million impressions. The experiment discovered that some food advertising standbys, like the “bite-and-smile,” are just as effective as other similar scenes. And, while all ages liked extreme close up shots of the pizza, younger demos were more likely to engage with first-person POV ads. (TechCrunch)
