Giphy’s new film festival will feature 18-second looping videos. The event will highlight original material (so don’t expect James Van Der Beek crying to make the cut) and show how “micro-films up to 18 seconds are just as compelling, entertaining, creative, and professional-grade as any other film entering world-famous film festivals.” The company adds that many of the oldest silent films are less than a minute long and that Vine showed how creators can tell a story in as little as six seconds.
