Doctors may start giving kids’ prescriptions for more playtime. The American Academy of Pediatrics’ recent report recommends the move to encourage Millennial parents to break out the toys (or everyday household items), and give children more time to explore. While “play is seen as irrelevant and old-fashioned,” an AAP chairman thinks it’s actually “the most important part of childhood” because “it’s how [children] develop emotionally, cognitively and in language.” (NYT)
