Many Millennial couples are buying a house before a ring. The National Association of Realtors reports that 16% of first-time homebuyers were unmarried couples in 2017—a new record. Also, 75% of first-time homebuyers were married in 1985 compared to just 57% today. However, some worry that breaking up could lead to “a battle royale” over the house without the legal agreements that accompany marriage. (CNBC)
