Millennials are less likely to buy houses than older generations were at their age—but don’t blame avocado toast. A new study from the Urban Institute found that 25-34-year-olds are eight percent less likely to own a house than Baby Boomers and Generation X. Several factors are keeping them from taking the plunge. They’re gravitating towards pricey, urban areas, are waiting longer to get married and have kids, and are still saddled with student debt.
