Indie upstarts are taking over the grocery store, as more young consumers opt for little-known brands over industry giants. We’ve seen up-and-comers move into beauty and now they’re after grocery, but major players are reacting quickly. Mondelez just bought Tate’s Bake Shop and Hershey Co. purchased Amplify Snack Brands (maker of SkinnyPop). But even with the acquisitions, they may not be able to keep up with startups, which don’t have to answer to shareholders at every turn. (WSJ)
