Vitamins and supplements are all over Instagram, but experts say they’re not effective, not regulated, and sometimes dangerous. Case in point: Sugar Bear Hair came to dominate feeds via influencer marketing from the Kardashian clan and Instagrammable packaging, but tests have shown that the vitamin contains small amounts of lead (a neurotoxin to children that can cause cardiovascular disease in adults) and enough biotin to interfere with lab test results. And they’re far from the only problematic product touted by beauty influencers for self-care-obsessed young consumers. (Vox)
