Millennials are more likely to dine out than other generations, and when they do go grocery shopping they’re more likely to opt for pre-packaged foods. The U.S. Department of Agriculture found that those born between 1981 and 1996 ate 2.3% of their meals at a restaurant, while Bernstein also estimates that young adults allocate 7.5% of their food budgets to prepared food. The restaurant industry has a massive opportunity with this generation while products that are anything less than ready-made may struggle (even cereal isn’t pre-prepared enough). (Business Insider)
