Instagrammability isn’t always a good thing for foodies. Case in point: the croissant. The simple pastry has been reincarnated for rainbow-loving palettes and the perfect picture. Dominique Ansel’s cronut was just the beginning. From there, we’ve seen them come in strawberry shortcake, red velvet, and even piña colada flavors. The epitome of the movement? Union Fare’s Funfetti croissant, which was thought up by—not a chef—but a social media marketing team. Instagrammers may love the trend, but some chefs are “running in the opposite direction.” (Eater)
