Hollywood is about to get a lot more diverse, if Black Panther’s success is any indication. The movie features a mostly black cast and black director, and—despite “conventional wisdom” that diverse movies perform poorly outside the U.S.—it grossed over $169 million abroad. The film’s $235 million four-day opening is the highest in history for the month of February, and it’s “on track to become one of 2018’s greatest hits.” Black Panther’s success goes to show that The Diversity Tipping Point generation is demanding more inclusive media.
