Millennials’ stock strategy didn’t go so well in 2017, if Robinhood’s top-traded stocks are any indication. Six out of ten of the trading app’s most-popular stocks ended the year at a lower valuation than they came into 2017 with. The Stockpile app saw similar trends, citing “that [M]illennials like to buy stocks of companies they know and whose products and services they use personally, or aspire to use.” AMD, GE, and Snap took the biggest hits on Robinhood’s list while tech companies like Amazon and Apple saw the greatest gains.
