Smartphones have been getting a bad rap for addicting kids, but social media may be the real culprit. Adults spend over half their time in five apps, with most calling Facebook their “most essential,” according to comScore. Considering Common Sense Media found that kids under eight-years-old spend more than half their screen time on mobile, this will be the first generation to grow up with unfettered social media access at their fingertips. Some opine that the devices could act as a “’gateway drug’ that'll likely set off a social media addiction.” (Bloomberg)
