Fake news is a very real problem for Millennials & Gen Z, so PBS Newshour Student Reporting Labs asked exactly what they think about the modern dilemma. The common theme: diminishing trust. Declining trust in major news sources paired with the rapid spread of misinformation on social media feeds lead one to say fake news is “weakening trust between the media and the audience” and another to note, “No one knows what to trust and what not to trust anymore.” Several also admitted to accidentally contributing to the problem by sharing stories “that might not be as true as [they] originally believed.” (PBS)
