Stores were eerily empty on Black Friday, but Thanksgiving ecommerce sales hit a record haul of $2.87 billion. As we predicted last year, shoppers are switching to cyber for their holiday shopping, with smartphones in particular playing a bigger role in holiday retail. Online sales for Thanksgiving rose 18.3% year over year, according to Adobe, and it’s not just the holidays driving growth. The entirety of November pulled in extra revenue, and Adobe predicts that overall online holiday spend will top last year by 14%. (TechCrunch, Business Insider)
